The most important step in powder coating is the pre-treatment and cleaning process. The product must be free of all prior coatings, rust, grease and oils for the powder to adhere properly.

The staged pre-treatment process includes:

• Applying cleaner to remove loose dirt and oils
• Hot water rinse to remove remaining dirt and product build-up
• Iron phosphate wash and rinse

Once items are pre-treated and cleaned, they are moved to the oven to remove any moisture and out gasing.
